ColdHubs offers IDPs ice maker, cold storage for fresh fruits and vegetables

In collaboration with the multi-donor funded Humanitarian Grand Challenge (HGC), ColdHubs Limited will be deploying its state-of-art 100% solar-powered walk-in cold rooms, to support the storage and preservation of fresh fruits and vegetables to Internally Displaced Persons across Nigeria.

The collaboration will offer 5 units of the 3tons ColdHubs and a solar ice maker – IcePoints, in 5 IDP camps.

The pilot camps include - Malkohi IDP Camp, Yola South, Adamawa State; Daudu IDP Camp, Makurdi, Benue State; Abagena IDP Camp, Makurdi, Benue State; Adagom IDP and Refugee Camp, Ogoja, Cross River State, and Ikom IDP and Refugees Camp, Ikom, Cross River State.

Speaking on the project, the Chief Operations Officer of ColdHubs, Mr. Bright Benjamin Igbokwe, said that the project will improve the nutrition of internally displaced persons through the delivery of fresh and clean food to the IDPs.

He said that having cold storage facilities for IDPs is a game-changer for the delivery of fresh food and the ice makers will also make a huge difference in the way they live their lives.

Mr. Igbokwe said that the five camps listed are just the starting point for the project and with the collaboration, they hope to scale it up to other African countries.
