The year 2021 will be considered as fulfilling for ColdHubs Limited having recorded tremendous growth as a company, as well as in the fight against food spoilage in Nigeria due to lack of cold storage.
Besides being a pacesetter in the construction of a solar-powered walk-in cold room and a leading organization in the implementation of the Cooling-as-a-Service business model in Africa, ColdHubs worked so hard to serve 5,250 farmers, retailers, and wholesalers across Nigeria.
These 5,250 farmers were served using its 54 installed cold rooms in 38 farm clusters, horticultural produce aggregation centers, and outdoor food markets in 22 states of Nigeria.
Staying away from fossil fuel and relying exclusively on its solar panels for energy generation, during the year under review ColdHubs saved 1,040,688Kg of Carbon Dioxide, across its 54 operational cold rooms.
With 40,200 tons of food saved in 2020, ColdHubs have scaled up that number to 52,700 tons saved in 2021 with farmers' income doubling within the same period.
Within its Headquarters and across its 38 locations in 22 states of Nigeria, ColdHubs created 66 jobs for women hiring and training them as Hub Operators and Market Attedants.
ColdHubs has also scaled up its refrigerated transportation services, with two brand new trucks, making the number three at the moment.
By venturing into cold chain logistics, ColdHubs has completed the cold-chain. Emerging as Nigeria’s first end-to-end cold chain company for fresh fruits and vegetables.
These achievements in 2021, are the foundation for 2022 as ColdHubs looks to build more hubs across and beyond Nigeria, expand on its refrigerated transportation services and commence production of packaging materials.
As industry leaders in Nigeria, ColdHubs will be unveiling brand new technologies and business models within the sector in 2022.
