ColdHubs has commissioned 13 new hubs across Nigeria since December 2020 according to the Chief Operation Officer (COO), Mr. Bright Benjamin Igbokwe.
The 13 hubs according to Mr. Igbokwe comprise 9 single hubs and two double hubs.
He revealed that in their usual tradition, the company has held a Post-Harvest Education Management Program in all the areas, to not only show people why they need to use the hubs but to also teach traders and smallholder farmers the best ways to handle their produce.
“Our concern does not start with our hubs, it starts with the way people handle food before bringing them to the hub”
“We are concerned that the food might have been bruised due to mishandling and this is an issue because we want to store fresh fruits. Vegetables and perishables, not bruised or bad ones”, he said.
He said that thanks to the Government of Japan and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), ColdHubs is now present in the following markets in Northern Nigeria:
1. Jimeta Modern Market, Yola, Adamawa State – Single Hub
2. Bypass Market, Yola, Adamawa State – Single Hub
3. Wunti Market, Bauchi, Bauchi State – Single Hub
4. Muda Lawal Market, Bauchi, Bauchi State – Single Hub
5. Kasuwa Gwan (Gombe Daily Market) Market, Gombe – Single Hub

Mr. Igbokwe further stated that more hubs are still under construction as they have a target of marking 54 hubs by the end of February 2021.
“We have brushed aside the delays of 2020 and we are almost there. The 54 mark is realistic now and we are so excited about how much food we will be saving daily with these facilities” he added.
