Post-harvest loss in Nigeria is a serious issue. Half of all the fruit and vegetables produced here are thrown away, even though millions of people across the nation are going hungry.
ColdHubs started a technology of using cooling to preserve perishables about 2 years ago and an estimation of 1000 tons of food has been saved. This indicates that there is need for cooling from the harvest of fruits and vegetables till it get to the end consumer; it should be cooling all the way.
ColdHubs is keen to focus on setting up the off-grid solar powered cold room in as many developing countries as possible. We aim to scale up production to 20,000 units over the next decade reaching the goal of reducing post-harvest loss in developing countries to its minimal.
Due to the immense success we have achieved through cooling the world food program have partnered with us to build a hub in the refugee camp. The need for this technology everywhere you can find fruits and vegetables farm and market is very necessary.
