As we reflect on the remarkable strides made by ColdHubs in 2024, we invite you to anticipate the profound impact our efforts have had on tackling food spoilage in Nigeria. ColdHubs was born out of a necessity to solve one of the nation’s pressing issues, which is post-harvest losses. In a country where over 40% of food produced goes to waste due to inadequate storage, our mission to extend the shelf life of fresh produce has never been more urgent. This year, we not only continued to provide reliable solutions to preserve food but also amplified our influence in reducing carbon emissions and uplifting the livelihoods of countless farmers and vendors.
The numbers tell a story of impact and transformation. Through our innovative logistics and infrastructure, ColdHubs’ refrigeration trucks transported 19,200,200 kilograms of food, ensuring produce reached markets and consumers without spoilage. Our strategically located solar-powered cold rooms saved an additional 13,882,486 kilograms of food from perishing, directly benefiting over 11,100 customers, which accounted for 63.5% of our client base. This success is a testament to the trust and reliance placed on our services by farmers and small-scale businesses alike. In addition, we made significant strides in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by preventing the release of 13,931,960 kilograms of CO2 underscoring our commitment to sustainability.
Beyond the numbers, the human impact of ColdHubs' work is equally inspiring. In 2024, we trained 4,136 farmers, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to maximize the value of their harvests. These farmers are now empowered to secure better incomes and improve their living standards. For many smallholder farmers, ColdHubs represents more than a service, it’s a lifeline that bridges the gap between harvest and market, ensuring their hard work doesn’t go to waste. This year, our efforts have also had a ripple effect on families and communities by strengthening food security and improving access to fresh, nutritious produce.
As the year draws to a close, ColdHubs remains steadfast in its vision to combat food spoilage while fostering economic and environmental sustainability. With our solar-powered technology, efficient logistics, and unwavering commitment to community empowerment, we are rewriting the narrative of post-harvest losses in Nigeria. Together with our partners and customers, we are building a future where food preservation is accessible, and farmers thrive. The story of 2024 is one of progress, resilience, and hope.
