ColdHubs Limited has also secured another partnership with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in the area of rebuilding rural livelihoods in conflict-affected northeast Nigeria.
The partnership which is through the Government of Japan (GoJ) will help achieve greater social stability, in five northeast states through Solar-Powered Cold Chain Systems.
Mr. Nnaemeka Ikegwuonu, the Founder and CEO of ColdHubs Limited, said; “The intervention will energize agri-food systems through local farmer training and the deployment of 7 solar-powered walk-in cold rooms “ColdHubs” in 7 markets in Adamawa, Bauchi, Jigawa, Gombe and Yobe State”
He further revealed that the project will also integrate advanced technologies and knowledge from Japan to enhance food storage in those conflict affected areas. “One of the major challenges of conflict-affected areas is food shortage.
it is a problem good storage plan will solve and this partnership will not only deliver on that, but also educated farmers and traders on the best practices to ensure their produce gains more shelf life which will then amount to almost zero loss and more income for them”, he said.
