Users of ColdHubs from around the country have been showering encomium on the facility which has changed the face of their businesses in areas where cold storage for fruits and vegetables should never have been mentioned at all.
With users saying the prevention of spoilage has helped them make up to 50% profit simply by saving what was budgeted to have been lost previously.
A user of ColdHubs in Obinze Vegetable Market, Owerri, Imo State, Nuhu Sa’eed said before ColdHubs was built in the market, they were losing up to 50% of what they buy from Jos, Plateau State.
Nuhu said that delays due to bad road network, high temperature and other factors contribute to the high level of spoilage they experience, adding that produce like Green Beans and Green Pepper which are very delicate, are always the first to spoil.
“Now that ColdHubs is here, our losses are not even up to 5%” he said, adding that it would be below 2% because ColdHubs is there to keep the rest of the produce fresh until they are sold.
Enjoying the Cooling as a Service model, employed by ColdHubs, Nuhu like other customers said that ordinarily none of them or their groups could afford a hub, but the cheap pay as you store nature of the services ensures they can all use it to help their businesses.
Nuhu revealed that he was excited the first time he used ColdHubs and has since then recommended it to others. He said that there are people who still do not want to use the hub, adding that understanding differs.
